Dear participants, distinguished organizers,

Motion is a fundamental pillar of human development, affecting not only the physical self, but also the cognitive, social, and emotional selves. To understand the impact of physical activity on an individual’s quality of life, a scientific, in-depth approach is required. Conducting research, developing innovative methods, and facilitating effective knowledge transfer between researchers, knowledge users and policymakers in this field is a responsibility and duty that we all share if we are to strive for a healthy, sustainable society.

The 1st International Congress Human in Motion provides a platform for dialogue, scientific reflection, and international collaboration. It provides an insight into the latest research on physical activity in society, while encouraging the development of solutions that address the needs of today’s society and of tomorrow.

The Ministry welcomes the efforts of the Science and Research Centre (ZRS) Koper and all its partners who, through their work, contribute to a better future. I wish you a successful congress.

Dr Igor Papič
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation

Special Award for Young Researchers – Santorio Santorio Award

As part of the ICHM Congress, the Santorio Santorio Young Investigators Award will be presented, granting generous cash prizes to the finalists: €400 for 1st place and €200 each for 2nd–4th place. The award is open to Master’s and PhD students up to 35 years of age

The award is named after Santorio Santorio (1561–1636), an Istrian physician, inventor, and pioneer of thermophysiology. Born in Koper, he later moved to Padua, where he served as professor, researcher, and physician until his death. He was the first to establish health standards and to emphasize the importance of prevention and rehabilitation.

The guiding principle of this remarkable scientist – that the quantitative foundation of physiological research lies in testing and measurement – remains, even centuries later, an inspiration and direction for researchers.

With this recognition, the ICHM Congress continues Santorio’s legacy, fostering innovation and scientific excellence in the new generation of researchers.
