Vlasta Kunaver, physician and specialist in pediatrics, is employed in the children’s clinic at the Health Center in Kamnik. She has nearly 30 years of clinical experience in pediatrics.
Since 2021, she has been a member of the Extended Professional Board for Pediatrics.
She serves as the main and direct mentor to young doctors, pediatric residents, family medicine residents, and medical students.
She is the author of both professional and numerous popular articles on pediatric topics, as well as the creator of the highly popular website Pediatrinja.si. She also advises parents through many online contributions, as well as in popular magazines and other publications.
In her youth, she was an accomplished mountaineer and later a paragliding pilot, and she remains a lover of all outdoor sports.
Topics related to the physical activity of children and youth are close to her heart both because of her two sons—who were active athletes throughout their childhood and adolescence—and because of the many young athletes she cares for as their chosen pediatrician. Her personal experience certainly contributes to her broad understanding of the health, nutritional, and overall well-being challenges faced by young athletes, their families, coaches, and other professionals involved in supporting physically active youth.
