Physical activity is central to the overall healthy development of children and adolescents, as it has a positive impact on their physical, mental, and social well-being. Despite the proven benefits of physical activity – such as improving cardiovascular health, strengthening the musculoskeletal system, enhancing psychological resilience, and supporting the development of social skills – we are currently facing a significant decline in physical activity among young people. This decline leads to numerous health and developmental challenges. Among other things, the lack of daily physical activity contributes to an increase in overweight and obesity, poorer health, reduced concentration in learning and consequently lower academic performance.
The proposed thematic areas provide a basis for the presentation and discussion of possible solutions. The conference will highlight the latest pedagogical and didactic approaches to the teaching of sports-related content, which are crucial for fostering motivation, interest, and enjoyment in physical/sports activity, as well as for emphasizing the importance of movement in the holistic development of children and adolescents. We will also address the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-curricular teaching in integrating physical activity into the educational process, both in pre-school and school settings, and discuss adapted physical activity/sport activities that enable the inclusion of all children, regardless of their individual abilities and needs. It will also emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle as a key factor in the long-term health and well-being of children and young people.
The proposed thematic sections will provide professional solutions and guidelines for effectively promoting physical activity and overcoming barriers that prevent young people from actively participating in sport.
