Nutritional and Lifestyle Interventions to Counteract Sarcopenia: From Mice Models to Human Trials


Dr. Chi-Chang Huang received his undergraduate degree in Applied Life Science from Fu-Jen Catholic University (1995–1999) and earned both his master’s degree in nutrition (1999–2001) and Ph.D. in Pharmacy (2001–2005) from Taipei Medical University. He completed a four-year postdoctoral research fellowship in natural products at Academia Sinica, followed by a half-year fellowship at Taipei Medical University. Dr. Huang joined the faculty of National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU) in August 2010. He served as Director of the Graduate Institute of Sports Science from 2016 to 2018 and has been the Dean of the Office of Research and Development at NTSU since August 2018. In recognition of his academic excellence, he received the Distinguished Professor Award from NTSU (2020–2026). Dr. Huang has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals, with more than 3,272 citations and an h-index of 34 (Web of Science, Clarivate Analytics). His main research areas include sarcopenia, exercise physiology, sports nutrition, probiotics, and functional foods. As principal investigator, Dr. Huang has led 17 research projects funded by the National Science and Technology Council (formerly MOST), with a cumulative 21 project-yearsand a total funding exceedingNT$27.35 million. In addition, he has secured over 150 industry-academia collaboration projects since joining NTSU, with a total funding of more than NT$96 million. Notably, his industry-academic funding has exceeded NT$10 million annually for five consecutive years (2020–2024), demonstrating his strong capabilities in translational research and industrial engagement. Dr. Huang has received numerous honors and awards, including the Academic Research Award, Industry Collaboration Award, Excellent Tutor Award, Teaching Excellence Appointment, Special Talent Award, Silver Medal Award, and Distinguished Contribution Award from both NTSU and external institutions.
